Mrs. Fine's Fourth Grade GATE

Dear Parents,

Your children will be learning about Ancient Greece.  The Greeks made many contributions to present society, and our lives today are greatly influenced by the ancient Greeks!  Did you know the ancient Greeks created and transformed things like:

• trial by jury
• tragedy and comedy theater
• myths
• democracy
• The Olympics
• sculpture
• epic Poetry
• architecture

Our lives would be extremely different today if it wasn’t for the ancient Greeks.  It is important to understand what their lives were like.  The more you know about ancient Greece, the more you will know and understand about your own life today.  A good portion of our Greek study will be on mythology of Greece.

Also, we will be working collaboratively with Mr. Hogan’s class on creative dramatics, SCAMPER, and Shakespeare.

GATE classes will begin the week of August 23rd.  Please bring the following supplies on your first day.

1 pack of white copy paper

12 pack of #2 pencils

Clorox wipes

Hand sanitizer

1 roll of paper towels

1 pack of lined paper (not college ruled)

1 composition notebook (not college ruled)  see sample below
